The T20 World Cup 2014 is going to be the fifth T20 World Cup organized by ICC (International Cricket Council). It is going to be an international T20 tournament and it is going to take place in Bangladesh. The T20 World Cup 2014 is scheduled to start on 16th March 2014 and end on 6th April 2014. This international T20 tournament will be hosted in three cities in Bangladesh: Sylhet, Chittagong and Dhaka. In 2010, ICC or International Cricket Council announced that Bangladesh will be the hosting country for this tournament. This is the second time in a row when an Asian country has hosted the ICC T20 World Cup. The last ICC T20 World Cup in 2012 was held in Sri Lanka. This tournament is going to be knock-out type tournament.
The logo for the ICC T20 World Cup 2014 was revealed by ICC on 6th April, 2013 in a gala event that was hosted in Dhaka. The logo comprises of colors of the Bangladeshi flag and also contains a hint of blue to symbolize the rivers in the country. “Rickshaw” is the inspiration for this logo. The T in the word T 20 is made of cricket stumps while the 0 looks like a cricket ball. Overall, it is a pretty interesting logo which nicely defines the true nature of the tournament and the game.
The teams playing in the ICC T20 World Cup 2014 will have to qualify by winning the 2013 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers. Total 16 teams are eligible to play in this tournament. Out of the 16 teams, 10 teams have directly qualified while the remaining 6 will have to qualify through the above mentioned qualifier matches. There will be a total of 35 matches in the T20 World Cup 2014. Practice matches will also be held. They will be held at Khan Sahab Osman Ali Stadium, Cox’s Bazar Stadium and BKSP Ground while the main matches will be held at Sher-e-Banlga National Cricket Stadium, Zohur Ahmed Chowdhary Stadium and Sylhet Divisional Stadium.
